What this site actually is

The Font Generator turns ordinary text into styled text you can paste into a bio, a caption, a username field or a chat message. It is worth being precise about the mechanism, because it explains both what the tool can do and what it cannot: these are not fonts. No typeface is being applied. Each styled letter is a separate Unicode character that already carries its shape, which is why it survives a copy and paste into an app that has no idea your styling exists.

That is also why you cannot resize, recolour or re-weight the result. Every visual decision was made when the character was encoded, sometimes decades ago and usually for mathematics rather than for bios.

Why we patch the gaps instead of ignoring them

Unicode's styled alphabets are incomplete, because they were never designed to be decorative alphabets. Mathematical Script is missing eleven letters (B, E, F, H, I, L, M, R, e, g and o) because those shapes had already been published years earlier in the Letterlike Symbols block, and Unicode does not encode the same character twice. Mathematical Fraktur has the same problem with five capitals: C, H, I, R and Z. Italic has a single famous hole at lowercase h, because that slot belongs to U+210E, the Planck constant.

A generator that maps letters straight onto a range and stops there produces nothing for those slots, and your device draws a placeholder box. Since almost every name and almost every English word hits at least one gap, that is not an edge case. This tool substitutes the correct Letterlike Symbols character each time, which is why a name renders in full here and comes back broken elsewhere.

Why we tell you which styles break

Sixteen of the thirty-five styles here carry a Unicode compatibility decomposition, which means any field that normalises text will silently rewrite them back to plain letters. Usernames and handles almost always normalise. Search indexes normalise. Some form validators normalise on submit, and none of them warn you first.

Most generators do not mention this, because it is easier to show a wall of styles than to explain that a third of them will not survive where you want to use them. Every style page here says which group a style belongs to, what it costs against a character limit, and where it is likely to fail. A tool that only tells you the good news wastes your time twice.

How it is built

Everything runs client-side in JavaScript against Unicode character maps. There is no backend and no database, so the text you type is never transmitted and never stored. The generator keeps working if you go offline after the page loads. Pages are static HTML generated at build time, which is why they load quickly and why there is nothing to sign up for.

What this tool is not for

If you need text you can resize, kern, recolour or print (a logo, a tattoo stencil, a wedding invitation going to a printer), you want a real typeface file, not Unicode characters. Styled Unicode is also a poor choice anywhere that needs to be found: a styled display name is harder for people to search for, and screen readers announce many of these characters letter by letter or skip them entirely. Use it for emphasis and personality, and leave anything that has to be searched, read aloud or printed in plain text.
