Terms of Use

The rules for using this site, written to be read rather than skipped. The date it was last changed is shown under the title above, taken from the page itself rather than typed in, so it cannot go stale.

What you are agreeing to

Using this site means accepting what is on this page. There is no account to create, no box to tick and nothing to sign, because the site has no login and keeps no record of you — so this is the only place the terms can live.

If you do not accept them, the remedy is simple and immediate: close the tab. Nothing has been stored about your visit that would need deleting, for the reasons set out on the Privacy Policy page.

What the site promises, and what it does not

The Font Generator converts the text you type into styled Unicode characters, in your own browser, free of charge. That is the whole of it. Being honest about the limits of that mechanism matters more than a warranty clause, so here are the real ones.

What cannot be guaranteed

  • How a style looks on someone else's device. Each styled letter is a separate Unicode character, and whether it renders depends on the fonts installed where it is read. A style that looks right to you can appear as empty boxes to someone else, and nothing on this end controls that.
  • That a given app will accept it. Instagram, TikTok, Discord, Facebook and the rest each decide what their own name and bio fields allow, and they change those rules without notice. A style that worked last month may be rejected today.
  • That the site is available. It is a free static site. It will go down occasionally, and pages may change, move or be removed at any time.
  • That styled text is readable by everyone. Screen readers announce these characters by their Unicode names, so a styled bio can be read aloud as a string of mathematical symbols. Worth knowing before you style something that matters.

The site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. In plain terms: it is a free tool that works well, but you use it at your own risk and should check the result before it goes anywhere important.

The text you make is yours

Whatever you type in and whatever comes out belongs to you. No licence over it is claimed, no ownership is asserted, and no permission is needed to use it — personally or commercially, in a bio, a logo, a client’s project or a product you sell.

That is not generosity so much as accuracy. The output is plain Unicode characters, standardised by the Unicode Consortium and owned by nobody, so there is nothing here to licence to you in the first place. The typefaces used by the signature, handwriting and logo tools are released under the SIL Open Font License, which permits commercial use.

What is not yours is the site itself: the page copy, the design, the font engine and the code behind it remain the property of their author and are not licensed for republication.

Fair use of a free site

There is no rate limit and no usage cap, which only works while people do not abuse it. These are the lines:

  • Do not scrape or automate the site at volume, or re-host its pages, copy or code as your own generator.
  • Do not use it to impersonate a real person or organisation, or to dodge a platform’s moderation, filters or bans.
  • Do not use it in anything unlawful, or to harass, deceive or defraud anyone.
  • Do not attempt to interfere with the site, probe it for vulnerabilities, or interfere with anyone else’s use of it.
  • Do not strip or block the advertising in order to republish the site’s content elsewhere. Using a content blocker while browsing is entirely your business and the tool will keep working.

Access can be refused to anyone doing these things. Since there are no accounts, that means blocking at the network level rather than suspending anything.

Other people’s platforms and rules

Where you paste the output is governed by whoever runs that place, not by this page. Each platform’s own terms decide whether a styled username is allowed, and some prohibit them outright in display names or ban characters chosen to look like other characters. Checking is on you, and a style working mechanically is not the same as it being permitted.

The site links out to third-party pages, including the opt-out controls named in the Privacy Policy. Those sites are not under this site’s control and their content is not endorsed by linking to them.

Advertising

This site is free because advertising pays for it. Ads sit in the article below the tool — never between the input box and the results, and never beside a copy button — and that placement is a commitment, not a current arrangement. What the ad services receive, and how to opt out of personalised advertising, is set out in full under Advertising and cookies.

Advertisers do not pay for placement within the generator, for a style to be ranked higher, or for anything on this site to be recommended. Nothing in the tool or the copy is sponsored.

Where liability ends

To the fullest extent the law allows, this site and its author are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of it — including a style that failed to render, text a platform rejected, an account action taken against you, or content that was lost. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you paid to use the site, which is nothing.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions of warranty or liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here is intended to limit rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.

Changes and contact

These terms change when the site does, and the date under the title above moves with them. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the version then published; there is no mailing list to notify, for the same reason there is no account.

Questions about anything on this page, including a complaint or a takedown request, can be sent through the Contact page.
